How to Become a Member of the National Team Coaching Pool

Who: Coaches who have served the National Team, current and past Olympic coaches, coaches who have produced national team members and are directly involved in developing elite talent. The group also includes up-and-coming coaches who have demonstrated talent, interest and results in developing elite athletes. Former Team One athletes will also be considered.

What: This group is the pool of coaches from which we select our national team staff every year. This group also functions as an important think-tank that is tasked with sharing, developing, gathering and discussing coaching goals for our national teams, direction and trends of the sport, technique and best practices to be shared and to be disseminated throughout the country.

When: A yearly retreat is held in December in conjunction with the Coaches College. A meeting is usually held after U.S. Nationals. There is also a meeting at the USAS Convention, in the fall. The group is also part of an e-mail list where issues are discussed and views examined.

Goal: To brainstorm, to build knowledge, to discuss issues to benefit athletes and the sport as a whole. To build partnership, foster collaboration and sharing of ideas. This group is not meant to be a closed and isolated group. We want your thoughts, ideas and hear your concerns. The goal is also to help the continual renewal of our ranks with talented up-and-coming coaches as well as continue to gain from the expertise of our experienced and successful coaches.
